Honour for ICM volunteer.

It was with great pleasure that ICM sent a gift and congratulations to Dr Julia Magill-Cuerden on the occasion of a celebratory lunch in December 2005 to mark her acceptance of a Fellowship of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), UK.

Julia, currently a Principal Lecturer in midwifery at the Thames Valley University (TVU) in England, has contributed to the work of the ICM in many ways over a number of years. Her most recent and valuable role has been in taking minutes of the extensive, four-day meetings of Council both in Vienna in 2002 and Brisbane in 2005. As these meetings are attended by over 100 delegates, vigorous debate takes place in three languages and the results of voting can have a significant impact on the functions and activities of the Confederation, it is clear that this is a crucial task!

The awarding of the fellowship by the RCM is a new venture of the college to designed to honour significant UK midwives.
