This issue of IM includes an update on the ICM/FIGO joint initiative to promote appropriate management of the 3rd stage of labour (AMTSL) and prevent postpartum haemorrhage (pp6-7). The global movement on this issue has been joined by the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), an organisation that has has worked around the world to strengthen local capacities in improving health systems and practices. PATH brings a commitment to evidence-based decisions and health technology assessments. Its staff have extensive expertise in health policy, health sector reform, family planning, breastfeeding, birth spacing, birth preparedness and antenatal care.
