Deputy Director Judi Brown has been the ICM representative on the international Nursing and Midwifery Regulator? Steering Committee for the past five years.

As part of this role, she led the ICM delegation to the Special Business Meeting of Nursing and Midwifery Regulators held in Toronto Canada, October 4-5. 2004. The decision to hold this special event was an outcome of the successful international nursing and midwifery regulatory, meeting held in Melbourne, Australia, in 2003. It was identified at that meeting that a business meeting should be held among regulatory authorities from the different regions of the world to establish an ongoing forum for dialogue and collaborative action on a number of issues including globalisation, education, trade agreements, workforce and international regulatory standards.

The meeting was generously hosted by the Canadian Nurses Association and it was attended by approximately 50 representatives from regulatory authorities in many countries.
