This year, 2007, marked the 50th anniversary since the ICM was accepted by the World Health Organization into an 'official relationship'. WHO reported in February 1957:

'The Executive Board having examined the report of the Standing Committee on Non-governmental Organizations, DECIDES to establish official relations with the following organizations on the basis of the criteria laid down in the working principles governing such applications:
